Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Wheeler County Criminal History does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message is retained as needed to answer it. Its contents are not disclosed outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can cause the servers to collect routine technical and usage details, including:
- The device's assigned IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- A referring website, when one exists
- The date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure traffic patterns, such as popular pages and points where visits end. Analytics providers may combine this information into summary reports. A browser can reject or remove cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating the site and maintaining its performance
- Routing a search query to the applicable outside provider
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Wheeler County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of individual criminal records. Its material points readers to record custodians such as the Wheeler County Sheriff's Office, Wheeler Circuit Court, Oregon State Police Criminal Justice Information Services Division, and Oregon Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a dossier about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the site's search boxes. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention, processing, and disclosure practices, so its terms should be reviewed before a query is sent.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Wheeler County offices, Oregon court systems, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search providers. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Those rules should be read before personal information is provided.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to recognize activity across websites and tailor ads. That processing occurs on the providers' systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. It may be processed or disclosed to these limited recipients:
- Search providers receiving a visitor's submitted query
- Analytics vendors measuring use and performance
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect information under the site's control. No internet transmission or storage method is completely secure, however, so uninterrupted security or the absence of a breach cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, a request may be made for its prompt deletion.
Your Data Rights
Subject to residency, eligibility, and statutory exceptions, the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, ORS 646A.570 through 646A.589, may grant rights concerning personal data. An eligible request may seek to:
- Obtain access to personal information held about the requester
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Request deletion of covered information
- Decline certain forms of covered processing
Updates to This Policy
Changes in site operations or governing law may require this policy to be updated. The replacement text and its effective date will be posted on this page.
